Scenario planning for the future of cities

Scenario planning for the future of cities

Challenge

Our client, a Japanese multinational conglomerate, wanted to identify the shifts that will define how European cities will evolve in the future, and create future scenarios of what they may look like.

Our Approach

We interviewed over 25 topic experts – mobility, retail, telecom, urban planning, etc. to surface the most relevant shifts impacting urban living. We analysed industry reports and white papers to identify evidence based data points supporting the shifts. We fleshed-out the evolution of the most relevant shifts over time, as well as potential obstacles. We held a co-creation workshop to build future scenarios for three EU cities

IMPACT

The tools we developed (detailed shifts, Kizashi templates, and scenarios) were used to ground our client’s strategy in a sound understanding of the future of urban living.
